Match with a family
Completing Your Application and Preparing for the Family Interview
Before we can proceed with matching you with a host family, you must complete the entire au pair application form. This includes filling in all your information, writing a letter to the host family, and providing your life photos. Additionally, you need to record a self-introduction video.
Self-Introduction Video Guidelines
Your self-introduction video should briefly cover the following points:
- Personal Details: Your name, age, hometown, and nationality.
- Background: Your educational background and any childcare or au pair work experience.
- Personal Attributes: Your personality, hobbies, interests, and any special skills.
Matching with a family is a detailed process. Families will learn about you through your video and application materials. If your English is proficient and you have a wide range of interests, you may quickly proceed to the interview stage with a family.
Interview Arrangements & Tips
Our interviews are conducted via VooV Meeting. Please download this software in advance and test your microphone and camera beforehand.
There is no need to be nervous during the interview. Simply keep a smile and be yourself. The interview typically lasts about 15 minutes and generally does not exceed 40 minutes. During the conversation, you can ask questions about topics such as:
- Pocket money
- Number of weekly breaks/days off
- The children’s hobbies and interests
- The number of family members
Crucial Points to Remember for a Smooth Interview
To ensure your interview proceeds without technical issues, please strictly avoid the following:
- Not arriving on time for the interview.
- Attempting the interview without a stable internet connection.
- Equipment failure (microphone/camera) disrupting the interview.
We hope this information helps you prepare effectively. Good luck!

visa process
Before entering the formal application process, please ensure your passport validity sufficiently covers the entire duration of your planned au pair program. For instance, if your passport is valid for only 11 months but you plan to complete a 12-month program, you must renew your passport first to ensure its validity exceeds your intended stay in China. If you do not currently hold a passport, you need to apply for one promptly, as this is the essential first step before initiating any subsequent procedures.
Once you commence the visa application process, it is crucial to maintain close contact with our team for guidance and support.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Accessing the Visa Application Form: The first step involves completing an online visa application form. Please note that the specific website link for the application varies depending on your country of origin. Therefore, after you officially enter the visa process, you must request our dedicated visa guidance email from us. This email will contain the correct application URL and a detailed list of required preparation materials.
- Preparing Your Documents: Regarding the required documentation:
- All materials related to the school (e.g., admission letters, invitation letters) will be handled by us. We will coordinate with our partner school to have these documents sent directly to your email address from the school’s official email system.
- For the visa application form, when filling out sections related to travel information and inviter details, you can simply copy the corresponding information from the
Visa Guidedocument you will receive via email. The rest of the form concerns your personal information, such as your name, passport details, and family member information, which you will need to provide.
- A Helpful Tip: If you are under 26 years of age, you typically do not need to fill in the work experience section. You can simply list your occupation as “Student,” which simplifies the process.

Prepare Documents
Important Reminders Before Your Visa Appointment
Please pay special attention to the following crucial points regarding document preparation after your online visa application has been preliminarily approved.
Once your online visa application passes the review, the status in the application system will typically change to “Passport to be submitted”. At this stage, you are generally not required to re-print all the documents you have already uploaded online. Your main responsibilities are to prepare the following physical items for your submission appointment:
- Your original passport, which must be valid for more than 6 months and have blank visa pages.
- One recent passport-style photo (size 48mm x 33mm with a light background).
- The printed copy of the visa application form with the barcode. You must sign this form by hand.
However, please note that the consular officer may occasionally request additional materials or originals for verification during the in-person submission. Therefore, if you wish to be exceptionally well-prepared, you could consider having easy access to the documents you uploaded.
Optional Preparation & Our Support
- Printing Nearby: If you decide to print any uploaded documents as a precaution, you can do so at facilities near the visa office. Alternatively, to confirm exactly what is needed, you may contact the visa center in advance by phone for clarification before you go.
- Our Continuous Support: We strongly advise you to inform us before you go to the embassy or consulate. This allows us to be on standby, ready to provide immediate support if you need any last-minute assistance or documentation.

Travel to china
After you have submitted your visa application materials and paid the visa fee, it indicates that you are very likely to soon receive your visa. However, we strongly advise that you only proceed to purchase your flight tickets after the visa center has returned your passport and you have confirmed that the visa has been granted.
The reason for this caution is that the final approval of any visa application retains an element of uncertainty. While the success rate for the au pairs we have served over the past three years is 99%, it is a prudent financial measure to avoid potential losses from ticket cancellations or changes in the rare event of a delay or issue with the visa issuance.
After Obtaining the Visa: Flight Booking Guide
Once you have successfully obtained your visa, you can begin looking for flights. We recommend choosing major international airports in China for your entry, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, or Hangzhou. Entry procedures at these major ports are generally well-established and can be more straightforward.
- Booking Platforms: To avoid scams, which are unfortunately common in online ticket purchases, we recommend using reputable platforms. You can consider purchasing your tickets through Trip.com or site: https://www.hopegoo.com/en.
- Travel Documentation: It is crucially important that you request and carefully study the specific travel document provided by your agency. This document will contain guidance on potential questions you could be asked by the immigration officials upon your arrival in China. You must prepare your answers according to the guidance in the document to ensure a smooth entry process.
Host Family Welcome
Your host family will typically meet you at the airport and often thoughtfully prepare essential daily items like a toothbrush, toothpaste, a towel, and a bath towel for you.If you have any particular preferences for Chinese food or fruits, or if there are any foods you dislike or are allergic to, please feel free to communicate this with your host family in advance. They will be happy to prepare many things you like to make you feel more at home
It is a kind gesture to prepare a small gift for the host family’s children. If the family has two children, you should prepare two gifts. You could also consider preparing a small gift for each family member. The gifts do not need to be expensive; items that are characteristic of your home country or region are excellent choices.
Upon settling into the family, you are granted a rest period to recover from your journey. This rest period is typically your total travel time plus an additional 12 hours. For example, if your flight from Europe took 12 hours, you can rest for 12-24 hours. If you are traveling from the Americas with a flight time of 36 hours, your rest period would be 36+12 hours. This time allows you to overcome fatigue and work on adjusting to the local time zone in China.
